For parents and students

How we keep tutoring safer, clearer, and human-reviewed.

SubjectScout is not launching as a free-for-all marketplace. During launch, every request and teacher match is reviewed by a human, with clear limits on what is and is not available yet.

Teacher vetting

Teachers are reviewed before they are proposed.

We review identity, qualifications, agreements, profile quality, subjects taught, and operational readiness before a teacher becomes part of a real match.

Under-18 policy

Under-18 private tutoring is not live yet.

Learners aged 16-18 can use free practice and register interest. Live private tutoring stays closed until legal review, guardian linkage, and enhanced checks are complete.

Matching

Concierge matching, not random browsing.

You explain the subject, goal, budget, and timing, then we source the strongest available fit. If the match is weak, we say so instead of forcing a proposal.

Issues and refunds

Every issue has a review path.

Complaints, no-shows, reschedules, and refund requests are reviewed by operations with the booking, messages, materials, and decision trail in one place.

What happens after your request
1

You explain the need

Subject, curriculum, timing, goal, budget, and any useful materials.

2

We review and source

Operations compares the request against approved teachers and newly scouted candidates.

3

You see a clear option

We explain the fit, status, and proposed timing before confirmation.

4

We review the outcome

After the lesson, notes, complaints, payout, or refund handling can be tracked.

Can under-18 students book private lessons now?

No. Personalised tutoring is adults-only during the current pilot. Under-18 learners can use free practice and register interest, but live tutoring opens only after guardian linkage, legal review, and enhanced checks are complete.

How are teachers checked?

A teacher must pass identity, qualification, agreement, profile, and operational review before they can be proposed to a learner. SubjectScout also distinguishes verified facts from self-written profile claims.

What happens if a lesson goes wrong?

A learner or parent can raise a support issue. Operations reviews the booking, messages, files, and teacher status before deciding whether to reschedule, refund, warn, suspend, or escalate.

Is SubjectScout a self-serve marketplace?

Not during launch. Early matching is concierge-led: you explain the need, SubjectScout reviews it, then proposes a suitable teacher only when there is a credible fit.
